No car-free road!

A message board at the city's Manika Miah Road peruses: "Confined for development of private vehicles".

The confinement is pertinent just for a day, the primary Friday of a month, as indicated by a choice reported by the street transport and extensions serve Obaidul Quader.

The choice was taken, on 22 September, the world auto free day, to keep the city's greatest street before the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban (parliament house) free from development of private vehicles.

Be that as it may, since the choice was taken, never was the street free from private vehicles - not on 6 October, the principal Friday and again on 3 November.

It was seen in the morning on Friday that private autos were moving and the police made no move to stop them.

The on-duty cop there, Md Alamgir Hossain, said many individuals don't know about the auto-free day. "Once there will be sufficient exposure, the police will stop autos," he included.

Dhaka Transport Coordination Specialist, bolstered by 36 associations, took the choice as a component of worldwide battle to lessen contamination.
