War crimes verdict looms on former Jamaat MP ‘Ghoramara Aziz’

Aziz was blamed for genocide, kill illicit restriction, plunder, illegal conflagration, torment and different egregious violations amid Bangladesh's Freedom War in 1971.

A three-part seat of judges from the Worldwide Wrongdoings Tribunal heard the second round of contentions from the indictment and protection on Monday, holding the judgment.

The choice will be the 29th issued by the tribunal since its arrangement in 2010.

Aziz and five assistants - Mohammad Ruhul Amin false name Manju, Mohammad Abdul Latif, Abu Muslim Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Nazmul Huda and Mohammad Abdur Rahim Mia – were prosecuted over their claimed wrongdoings in the Gaibandha Sadar and Sundarganj Upazilas.

The trial started last Jun 28. The greater part of the suspects, besides Latif, are slipping away.

The choice was set to be declared on May 9, yet was conceded after the demise of Equity Anwarul Haque, who was heading the past tribunal seat.

Another tribunal was then framed under the administration of Equity Shahinur Islam.

On Oct 12 the judges chose to re-hear the case. The contentions were then heard on Oct 22-23.

The judges will now consider before issuing the decision.
