Pre-censorship is a reality today: Mahesh Bhatt

With a few Bollywood movies running into issues with the edit board, producer Mahesh Bhatt says the creators have achieved a phase where they are pre-blue penciling substance to maintain a strategic distance from any inconvenience.

Prior this year, the Shahid Kapoor-Alia Bhatt starrer 'Udta Punjab' bolted horns with the CBFC - a matter which was in the end determined by the High Court requesting that the board ensure and not blue pencil.

As of late, even the Katrina Kaif-starrer 'Baar Dekho' was recommended cuts by the board.

The 'Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin' chief says there are times when an executive standards out the likelihood of putting his story on screen, dreading the higher powers won't permit him to do as such with flexibility.

"There is a risk of backward governments and countries. We experience such a large number of cases where today pre-oversight has turned into a reality," Bhatt told PTI.

"There are events when you stamp out probability of recording a specific story, or a scene since you expect that the forces that standard you, won't permit you," he opined.

The 67-year-old movie producer is currently prepared with his home creation 'Raaz Reboot', featuring Emraan Hashmi and Kriti Kharbanda.

In spite of the fact that the thriller has been given "An" endorsement by the blue pencil board, Bhatt needed to battle when it went to a specific scene including obscenities.

"We had an issue with the control. There is a scene where the young lady (Kriti) is had so she continues rehashing the "F" word. She gushes it with most extreme force. It is a splendid, chilling arrangement," he uncovered.

"That was a piece of the story, a totally better than average housewife gets controlled by the dull strengths and turns into an evil presence. Be that as it may, we were requested that chop down the obscenities significantly. In spite of the fact that it is still there, the words were quieted at spots and supplanted by something else," he facilitate said.
