Javed Akhtar condemns Muslim personal law board

Acclaimed lyricist-author Javed Akhtar, who is vocal about his considerations, says he censures the All India Muslim Individual Law Board (AIMPLB) for defending moment divorce framework.

The AIMPLB on Friday guarded the act of triple talaq and polygamy, purporting that polygamy is a social need and a gift and not a condemnation for ladies.

"I censure Muslim individual law board in the most grounded words for supporting moment divorce. They are the most exceedingly awful foes of their own group," he tweeted on Saturday.

Saying that "polygamy is a gift, not a condemnation for ladies", the AIMPLB, in its testimony documented in the Incomparable Court on Friday, said that if the alternative of polygamy was not accessible to a spouse, then he may separate his current wife or enjoy unlawful undertakings.

"An unlawful special lady is more destructive for social fabric than a legitimate second spouse," the AIMPLB said in its reaction to a suo moto request on the privileges of Muslim ladies concerning marriage, separation and upkeep and whether the present practices under Muslim Individual Law were violative of the essential rights ensured under the Constitution.

Safeguarding the Shariah allowing right to separation to the spouse, the AIMPLB said that "men have more noteworthy force of basic leadership. They will probably control feelings and not to take a rushed choice."
